Case study · Supply yard

Fire Empire: a yard, rebuilt.

Fire Empire is a bulk quarry, landscape and garden supplies yard in Melbourne. We rebuilt its website around how the yard really sells: by the tonne, by the truckload, by quote.

The Fire Empire home page on desktop: the headline 'Quarry materials delivered by the truckload' beside a photo of the yard’s B-double truck, with Request a quote and See products and prices buttons.

The brief

A trade business, stuck in a web shop.

Fire Empire sells crushed rock, toppings, soil, mulch and firewood by the tonne and the truckload, to home owners, trades, landscapers, builders and wood yards. Its old site worked like an online shop, and it was getting in the way of enquiries.

  1. Before: Typing the address showed an empty booking page: “Nothing to book right now.” The real home page sat out of sight at /home.

After: The home page loads at the address, led by the yard’s own B-double.

  2. Before: A web-shop cart let customers “Buy Now” a per-tonne price with no delivery and no minimum. That is not how a yard sells.

After: An "Add to quote” list. Customers send the whole job in one go, and the yard quotes the delivery.

  3. Before: The contact form had no phone field, in a trade where most orders are phoned through.

After: Every form takes a phone number, and Call and Get a quote stay on screen on phones.

  4. Before: The contact page and the footer listed two different email addresses.

After: One confirmed address for every enquiry.

  5. Before: Stock photos, AI-generated images and a photo carrying another photographer’s copyright.

After: The yard’s own photos of its trucks, yard and products.

What we built

Built around how the yard sells.

Price list

Every product, priced up front.

A real photo of each product, its price per tonne or cubic metre, and the minimum order. Filter by category in a tap.

Calculator

How much do I need?

Customers enter the area and depth and get cubic metres and approximate tonnes, sent straight into a quote.

Enquiries

Four forms, one clean inbox.

Quote request, call-back, bulk firewood and contact. Bulk firewood has its own page, so B-double enquiries from wood yards never mix with backyard jobs.

Search

Built to be found.

A title and description on every page, structured data Google can read (business details, hours, service areas and prices) and a sitemap.

Redirects

Old links still work.

Every old Wix address redirects to its new match, so existing Google listings and saved links keep working.

Foundations

Fast, secure and owned.

No page builder, no plugins, no site-builder subscription. Security headers, spam-protected forms, accessibility checked on every page, and the client owns every file.

Products and prices

The price list, up front.

Each product shows a real photo, the price and the minimum order, with delivery quoted for the customer’s site. Tap Add to quote on a few, then send the lot.

The Fire Empire products page: crushed rock and aggregates shown as photo tiles, each with its price per tonne including GST, the five tonne minimum plus delivery, and an Add to quote button.
The Fire Empire home page on a phone: the headline over a photo of the yard’s truck, with Call and Get a quote buttons pinned to the bottom of the screen.
On the phone

Made for ordering from site.

On a phone, Call and Get a quote stay pinned to the bottom of the screen on every page. The phone number sits in the header on desktop.

  • Checked at phone and desktop sizes, with no sideways scrolling
  • Works with screen readers and keyboards
  • Readable colour contrast, checked on every page
Launch

Live, and just getting started.

  1. September 2026

    The audit

Every page and product on the old site reviewed. Every fact on the new site traced back to its source.

  2. Late September 2026

    The rebuild

Built, then refined with the owner: units, hours, photos and GST confirmed before launch.

  3. 3 October 2026

    Live

www.fireempire.com.au moved off Wix onto fast static hosting, with the bare domain redirecting and an auto-renewing security certificate.
